How to Verify Your Business Page on Facebook in a Few Simple Steps

If you run your own business or brand, then having a presence online is a must in today’s world.

While many of our clients and friends have basic Facebook pages set up, we’ve seen quite a few patterns in missed opportunities to optimize their presence on Facebook.

One of the best – and easiest – ways to impact your organic reach on Facebook is to verify your Facebook page.

Today, we’re going to walk you through the exact steps you need to follow to get your business page verified.

The Types of Facebook Pages that Can Be Verified

First, you need to have a Business page on Facebook. You should never run your business from your personal profile or a group. how to verify your business page on facebook

To create your Page on Facebook, visit facebook.com/pages/create. Choose your Page category, fill out the relevant and required information about your company, and follow the instructions to get started.

Once you have set up a business page for your company, you can request either a grey or blue verification page.

Grey Verification Badge

If your Page’s category is one of the following, you can request a grey verification badge:

  • Local Business
  • Company
  • Organization

You can see QFYC’s verification badge under our Facebook Page’s profile picture:

Blue Verification Badge

If your Page is for a public figure, celebrity, or brand, you may be eligible for a blue verification badge.

At this time, there is no way to request or purchase a blue badge. If you mistakenly chose one of these categories but believe your company should have a grey badge, you should first change the category type and then follow the steps below.

What You Will Need to Verify Your Business Page

Before you can verify your business page, you must first be an admin.

Your business page must also have a profile picture and cover photo before it can be eligible for a grey verification page.

Step-by-Step Guide to Verifying Your Facebook Page

There are two ways to verify your Facebook page when requesting the grey badge:

  1. Verifying your Facebook page with a publicly listed number
  2. Verifying your Facebook page with a business document

To get started, visit your business page and click Settings on the top right-hand side.

From the General menu, click “edit” next to where it says Page Verification. It will show you that your page has not yet been verified.

You then want to click “Verify this page” and the “Get Started” from the pop up.

Verify Your Facebook Page

On the next screen, you will decide whether you want to verify your Facebook page with a phone number or business document.

Verifying Your Page with a Business Phone Number

If you choose this option, you will need to enter a publicly listed number for your business. If you have a store front or office location, this will be the easiest and quickest way to verify your page.

Simply enter in your business’ phone number in the appropriate box and click “Call Me Now.” You will receive an automation call with your 4-digit verification code that you can enter in to the box on the next screen.

Verifying Your Facebook Page with a Business Phone Number

If you have a brand or company that does not list your phone number publicly, you will need to follow the directions for the second option below.

Verifying Your Page with a Business Document

The other option for verifying your Facebook page that takes a little bit longer is uploading a business document.

On the screen that asks you to verify by phone, you will want to click on the hyperlink at the bottom left that says “Verify this Page with documents instead.”

You can then upload one of the following documents, showing your business’ official name and address:

  • Business utility or phone bill
  • Business license
  • Business tax file
  • Certificate of formation
  • Articles of incorporation

Once uploaded, click Send Document to submit your information to Facebook.

Once you have completed the steps above, Facebook will review the information you provided to confirm that it matches public records.

You should receive an email from Facebook with the status of your verification within a few days (sometimes even the same day!).

Once it’s verified, you will see the grey badge on your profile and your General Settings option will be updated:

And there you have it! You’ll have that nifty little page in no time 🙂
